There's a chance for some record-setting weather this Halloween on Long Island — and the only question that remains is the obvious one: Trick or treat?

The National Weather Service says we're in for all treat. The forecast for Thursday calls for sunny skies and temperatures closer to late summer than mid-fall.

The weather service is predicting a high of about 77 degrees this Halloween. The record for Oct. 31, as recorded at Islip, is 73 degrees, set in 2004.

Nassau and Suffolk should see two beautiful days, with temperatures expected to soar into the low 70s Wednesday with a light breeze, the weather service said.

While the daytime temperatures will be in the mid- to upper 70s on Thursday, that is expected to change as Long Island approaches midnight, the weather service said.

Overnight showers are forecast ahead of a rain-filled Friday with strong winds and gusts as high as 24 mph.

That system will bring cooler weather starting Friday night into Saturday, with overnight lows dropping into the low 40s and a daytime high of about 59 degrees Saturday. Highs will linger around 60 Sunday.

It's possible nature has at least one more weather twist in store for Long Islanders. Temperatures across Nassau and Suffolk could reach back into the mid- to upper 60s on Monday and even hitting 70 degrees Tuesday, Election Day.

Long Island still might not see a record Tuesday, even if it does hit 70.

The record temperature at Islip for Nov. 5? It is 74 degrees, set in 2022.
