Samuel Merritt was born June 3, 1907. He had three brothers and a sister, all now deceased. He graduated from New York University with a degree in accounting. He was married to Ruth for 50 years before being widowed 22 years ago. He started his own business manufacturing plumbing supplies, retiring in 1974. He has two children, five grandchildren and one great-grandchild. He loves listening to people's life stories. He celebrated his birthday at the A. Holly Patterson Extended Care Facility in Uniondale with family, residents and staff.
