Nine years after they met at a summer high school party in Hampton Bays, Emma Rosenzweig and Corey Schneider married.
Rosenzweig, of Setauket, summered out east, first visiting her grandparents and later with her parents after they bought a house there.
It was the end of his senior year of high school, and she was a junior. They dated during her senior year while he attended Suffolk County Community College. She followed her cousins to the University of Kentucky, she said, where five of them eventually attended. The draw of the South was strong, and Schneider, now 27 and a software engineer, enrolled at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte.
“I don’t think we’d be here together today if he hadn’t been committed to the relationship,” said Rosenzweig, 26, a conference producer. “There was a six-hour drive between the two of us. He came to see me a lot.”
After graduation, they moved to New York, living first in Astoria, Queens, then Dyker Heights, Brooklyn before moving back to Long Island. “We’re both foodies and loved being near the city,” she said. “He’s a carnivore and I’m a vegan.”
Schneider proposed Aug. 26, 2023, at Road K beach in Hampton Bays during a picnic dinner with their rescue dog Lucy, a Yorkie mix.
“I had an inkling it was coming because we’d talked about the ring,” Rosenzweig said, “but he caught me off guard.”
They married July 7 at The Estate at East Wind in Wading River, with 235 guests, nine bridesmaids and seven groomsmen. A plus, Rosenzweig said, was they realized when visiting the venue that they had driven by it countless times while they were dating.
They celebrated their heritages, Rosenzweig said, with a rabbi performing the ceremony and a cousin who is a minister reading the blessing.
Friends offered a Hindu blessing, which the couple said they loved after hearing it at their friends’ wedding, as well as an Apache blessing about commitment and love.
Lucy had a role, too, as an attendant, with the rings safely tied to her collar.

WINE AND DINE
The Estate at East Wind catered the reception, accommodating food and nut allergy requests. "East Wind did a great job of creating vegan-friendly food," Rosenzweig said, especially a vegan mushroom-risotto cake. "They made sure the food was perfect." Their wedding cake was half vegan, half regular cake from The Rolling Pin in East Setauket, she noted.

The couple spent 10 days in Italy in March, touring the Amalfi Coast, Sorrento and Ravello.
