James Scourtos, of West Islip, has received the 2024 Outstanding Teacher Award from the Science Teachers Association of New York State’s Nassau County Chapter. Scourtos is a science teacher at Seaford High School, where he has worked since 1997, and teaches Advanced Placement biology and human body systems. He is also a member of the Science Teachers Association of New York State, the New York State Marine Education Association and the National Association of Biology Teachers.
