PORT WASHINGTON: Cops: Woman's death appears accidental
Nassau police and the county medical examiner's office are investigating what appears to be the accidental death of a Port Washington woman.
Just before 2:30 p.m. Saturday, a passerby discovered the body of Jeanne Wilde, 57, of 12 Matinecock Ave. in the water between a houseboat on Matinecock and an icy landing, authorities said. Wilde was pronounced dead at the scene.
Authorities said it appears Wilde may have slipped from the landing and struck her her head, though a final cause of death will be determined by further investigation of the Medical Examiner.
