Partly cloudy skies overnight and into Wednesday morning will thicken by the afternoon, forecasters said, with rain likely and continuing through Thursday night.

The high Wednesday will top out at about 47 degrees, dipping to 38 at night. Thursday brings more rain with a high of 51 and an overnight low of 45, according to the National Weather Service.

Friday starts out with more clouds and a 30% chance of rain but the sun returns after 8 a.m. with a high of 58 and a low at night of 41.

Saturday is forecast to be mostly sunny, with highs in the low 50s, dropping to 37 at night.

Sunday and Monday are also forecast to be sunny, but cooler, the weather service said. Long Islanders can expect highs in the mid- to upper 40s both days, with lows at night in the high 20s.
