5 departments fight fire at Plainview home
Firefighters from five fire departments worked for more than an hour Sunday morning to contain a two-story fire that consumed a Plainview home.
About 10 a.m., the Plainview Fire Department received calls from neighbors about smoke and fire billowing from a home on Karen Avenue, Plainview Fire Chief Ross Dubner said.
"We had a pretty extensive fire upon our arrival," Dubner said.
The home's residents escaped without any major injuries, Dubner said.
Firefighters from Bethpage, Hicksville, Farmingdale and Syosset's fire districts joined the Plainview department. The fire reduced many areas of the home down to its wooden frame.
Dubner said the cause of the fire has not been determined and remains under investigation by the Nassau County Fire Marshal's Office.
