Police recovered the body of a man from the waters of Hempstead Bay, near the jetty at the Welwyn Preserve in Glen Cove on Thursday — describing the circumstances of the death as "noncriminal."

Glen Cove Police said officers responded to the site after a passerby called 911 to report the sighting about 7:30 a.m.

Police said the body was that of a male, believed to be in his 30s, but said identification was pending notification of family.

Glen Cove Police also said Nassau County Police Homicide detectives had been asked to assist in the investigation, but said the request was procedural — and that no crime was suspected at this time.
