Cops arrest man in December shooting
A Roosevelt man was arrested Wednesday and charged with attempted murder in the December shooting of a man who was left crippled, Nassau police said.
Aaron Peace, 24, of 40 Hale Pl., also was charged with first-degree assault, criminal use of a firearm, criminal possession of a weapon and second-degree reckless endangerment.
First Precinct officers responded to a report of three or four gunshots fired near Anna Avenue and Williams Street about 10 p.m. on Dec. 2, police said.
A 28-year-old man was found with a gunshot wound to the back, in the front yard of a residence on Williams Street, police said.
A handgun was recovered and wounded man was taken to a hospital by Nassau County police ambulance for treatment, police said.
The gunshot severed the victim's spinal cord, police said, and he lost the use of both legs.
No information was available Wednesday night regarding a possible motive for the shooting, according to Special Investigation Detectives.
Peace was to be arraigned Thursday in First District Court, Hempstead.
