A traffic stop on Sunday led to the discovery of oxycodone and other drugs and weapons, including an assault rifle, Nassau police said Monday.

Police charged driver Anthony Toscano, 29, of 45 Monaco Ave., Elmont, and passenger Callie Faustmann, 26, of 1234 Powell Ave., Merrick, with several counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance on Sunday night.

Officers found an AK-47 assault rifle and a Mossberg shotgun in Toscano's bedroom Monday morning, a police spokesman said. Weapons charges against him will be brought before a grand jury at a later date, the spokesman said.

Police stopped the 2007 GMC Toscano was driving on Dutch Broadway in Elmont at 8:25 p.m. Sunday. Police said they found oxycodone and a plastic bag containing what appeared to be marijuana on him then. They said they found alprazolan, the generic form of Xanax; Diazepam, a generic for Valium; and the narcotic pain killer oxycodone, as well as two plastic bags containing what appeared to be cocaine on Faustmann.

The search of Toscano's bedroom turned up a "large quantity" of pills, including oxycodone, Xanax, hydrocodone, ecstasy and methadone, along with plastic bags of heroin, cocaine, crystal methamphetamine and hashish, police said.

Toscano is scheduled to be arraigned Tuesday in First District Court in Hempstead. Faustmann was issued a desk appearance ticket to appear in First District Court in Hempstead on Aug. 8.
