A Freeport man was held Friday on $10 million bail after being charged with attempting to murder a man last month in Freeport, authorities said.

Ali Jones, 20, of 30 Wallace St., Apt. 4C, was arrested by Nassau County police First Squad detectives Thursday at 3:20 p.m. in Roosevelt, police said. He was charged with second-degree attempted murder.

Jones is the second person arrested in the shooting on Randall Avenue near Wallace Street on Feb. 4 at 1:10 p.m.

One day after the shooting, James Tobin, 23, of 64 Robert St., Freeport, was arrested and charged with second-degree attempted murder, police said.

Tobin was arraigned on Feb. 6 and was remanded, while a temporary protection order also was issued. Tobin also is scheduled to appear Friday in First District Court in Hempstead.

Police said Jones and Tobin, acting together, intended to "cause the death" of the 23-year-old victim -- who was found on the street suffering from gunshot wounds. Police said the victim, bleeding from wounds to his abdomen, was taken ny Nassau County police ambulance to a nearby hospital.

The status of his recovery was not immediately known.

Police said four .380-caliber shell casings were found at the scene. A fifth casing was found in the victim's clothing.
