A Valley Stream man was jailed Sunday on felony charges of attempted burglary and criminal mischief after Nassau County police said he tried to break into a house.

Jordan J. Louissaint, 23, of 5 Forest Ave., was remanded on bail of $7,000 bond or $3,500 cash at his arraignment at First District Court in Hempstead.

He is charged with second-degree attempted burglary and third-degree criminal mischief and is due back in court on Wednesday.

According to Fourth Squad detectives, Louissaint tried to enter a Flower Road home in Valley Stream by breaking a first-floor window at about 12:17 p.m. Saturday.

A resident was home, however, and called police.

Louissaint ran west on Flower Road then south on Firethorn Lane, police said. Officers from the Fourth Precinct arrested him at Roosevelt Avenue and Fairfield Street, police said.
