Crime Stoppers and Nassau County police are looking for a man who allegedly tried to use a fake store receipt to return items to an East Meadow home-improvement warehouse in May.

First Squad detectives said suspect John McDonnell entered the Home Depot at 2000 Hempstead Tpke. at about 10:25 a.m. May 5 and placed several items in a cart.

He then went to the return desk and produced a fraudulent receipt in an effort to return the items he had not purchased, police said.

When store security approached him, McDonnell fled in an unknown direction, police said.

Police said McDonnell's last known address was in Bethpage..

Anyone who knows the whereabouts of the suspect is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 800-244-8477. All calls will be kept confidential.
