A Brooklyn man was killed and his passenger critically injured when their vehicle left the roadway and struck a tree on the Meadowbrook State Parkway on Tuesday evening.

Tim Tenenboym, 20, was northbound in a Ford Mustang near the Southern State Parkway when he lost control of his car and struck a tree about 6 p.m., New York State Police said.

Tenenboym was pronounced dead at the scene, police said. A male passenger was taken to a hospital for treatment of critical injuries, police said.

Weather conditions were cited as an initial cause of the crash, police said.
