A 19-year-old woman from Elmont was killed Friday night when police said the car she was riding in struck a tree after it careened off South Conduit Avenue near Kennedy Airport in South Ozone Park.
The NYPD identified the victim as Shannon Cassidy Primlal and said she was a front-seat passenger in the 2001 Nissan Altima, being driven by a 19-year-old man, when it crashed just after 9 p.m. near 125th Street. Police said the driver was taken in stable condition via EMS to Jamaica Medical Center.
Primlal also was transported to Jamaica Medical Center, where police said she was pronounced.
Police said the Altima was on South Conduit Avenue, which runs adjacent to the Belt Parkway, when it left the roadway and hit the tree near 125th Street around 9:09 p.m.
The cause of the single-vehicle crash is under investigation by the NYPD Highway District's Collision Investigation Squad. Additional information was not immediately available.
