A 9-year-old girl is in stable condition after falling from a diving board onto the pavement at a Nassau County public pool on Thursday, police said.

Around 5:10 p.m., the girl fell from a high diving board at the pool at North Woodmere Park and suffered bruising to her head, neck pain, and a possible fractured left arm, police said. She was airlifted to a hospital, where she remains in stable condition.

It is unclear why or how the girl fell, police said, adding that they are not pursuing an investigation.

Town of Hempstead officials did not immediately respond to comment.
