Girl, 10, hit while biking to ice cream truck in New Hyde Park, Nassau police say
A 10-year-old girl suffered a serious head injury after a car hit her in New Hyde Park as she rode a bicycle toward an ice cream truck, Nassau police said.
The girl was hit about 5:50 p.m. Wednesday by a 2020 Hyundai Elantra headed north on N. 11 Street at Park Avenue. The victim was crossing the road at the time, police said.
She was taken to Cohen Children's Medical Center. Police said she sustained a head injury that they described as serious but not life-threatening.
The driver remained at the scene after the collision, police said.
