Nassau Democratic chairman Jay Jacobs, backing Thomas Suozzi for county executive, slammed Suozzi's primary rival Adam Haber for hiring a Suffolk marketing firm run by a former Republican consultant.

Haber has used Patchogue-based Public Relations and Marketing Group to run his Nassau Suggestion Box, an interactive website. John Zaher, an Independence Party registrant who worked for several GOP lawmakers, including former Rep. Rick Lazio, runs the company.

"For someone seeking the Democratic nomination for Nassau County executive, I'm surprised he couldn't have found a business in Nassau," Jacobs said. Haber's camp countered that a small fraction of PRMG's clients are political, and Haber has helped create private jobs in Nassau. -- Robert Brodsky
