A Hempstead man faces forgery and drug charges after trying to get a fake prescription filled at a pharmacy, Nassau County police said Monday.

Trevor Lawry, 28, was ordered held on bail of $2,500 cash or bond at his arraignment Tuesday in First District Court in Hempstead.

Police said that Lawry presented the fake prescription to a clerk at a Rite Aid store in Valley Stream on Oct. 2, 2013. When he was arrested Monday at Nassau Boulevard and Hawthorne Street in West Hempstead he was in possession of two small bags of methamphetamines, police said.

Lawry, of 171 Pierson Ave., is charged with possession of a forged instrument and criminal possession of a controlled substance. He is due back in court Friday.
