A Hempstead woman was struck and killed Saturday night by an SUV as she walked on a street in the town, Nassau police said.

Rosie Cubies, 64, was walking shortly before 9 p.m. on Clinton Street, between Burr and Vancott avenues, when a 2017 Honda Pilot traveling south on Clinton hit her, Nassau police said. The driver, 52, stayed at the scene until authorities arrived. Officers conducted a safety inspection at the scene and then released the Honda back to the driver, police said.

Cubies suffered multiple trauma injuries and was taken to a hospital where she was pronounced dead, police said.

The investigation is continuing.
