An unidentified man was hit and killed by a train Friday at the Syosset station, the Long Island Rail Road said.
The man was struck at about 9:35 a.m. by a westbound train that had left Port Jefferson at 8:34 a.m., said LIRR spokesman Salvatore Arena.
Customers on that train, which was due at Hicksville at 9:40 a.m., were taken by bus to Hicksville and delayed by about 25 minutes.
At least one train on the Huntington-Port Jefferson branch was canceled and several others were delayed as authorities investigated, Arena said.
The death remains under investigation, he said.
