Long Beach man who fled cab after attempted robbery arrested, police say
A Long Beach man who this summer jumped out of a moving taxi in Baldwin after the driver refused to relinquish the money he demanded was arrested Thursday morning, police said.
David Kunen, 38, of 10 West Broadway, was arrested in Atlantic Beach, and will be charged with attempted robbery in the July 29 incident, police said.
His arraignment was scheduled for Friday at First District Court, Hempstead.
The 48-year-old male cabdriver had picked Kunen up on Woodcleft Avenue in Freeport and was taking him to Grand Avenue near Brooklyn Avenue, police said.
After Kunen demanded cash, the driver kept driving toward the Baldwin train station, police said.
"While the taxi was still moving, the subject jumped out and fled southbound on Milburn Avenue," police said in a statement in July.
