A Lynbrook man who was fatally struck by a vehicle in Queens earlier this week was remembered Friday by his mother as someone who loved to play tennis and was "just the greatest kid."

Curtis Blocker, 31, was hit Tuesday night while checking on his own vehicle after a collision on the Cross Island Parkway in Bayside, the NYPD said.

When reached by phone Friday, his mother, Sandy Blocker, said her son was raised in Far Rockaway and attended high school at Channel View School for Research. She recalled his love for tennis and said he had only recently moved to Lynbrook, where he shared a residence with two of his childhood friends.

Sandy Blocker said her son worked for the New York City Department of Sanitation alongside his brother, Tevin Blocker, and is also survived by his sister, Marissa.

“From birth, he was just the greatest kid,” his mother added.

On Tuesday night around 10:47, Curtis Blocker was driving a 2013 Chevy Spark near Exit 30 alongside Alley Pond Park when it collided with a 2018 Jaguar, police said.

He then stopped and got out of his car in the center lane of the parkway. As he was assessing the damage, an oncoming 2023 Nissan Rogue struck him, according to police.

Blocker was taken to North Shore University Hospital in Manhasset, where he was pronounced dead, police said.

The operator of the Nissan remained at the scene. Both the driver of the Jaguar and the Nissan were not injured.

The investigation remains ongoing by the NYPD Highway District's Collision Investigation Squad.
