Mangano hires former Democratic staffers

Nassau GOP County Executive Edward Mangano continues to hire former employees of Democratic politicians. Recently the administration added Ali Mirza and Zefy Christopoulos as $30-an-hour seasonal park workers.

Mirza had worked on and off for former executive Thomas Suozzi; Christopoulos was press secretary for former Democratic Legis. Diane Yatauro.

Previous hires include former Democratic aides Fran Evans and Gerry Twombly and Joanne Maglione, who was a deputy county attorney for Suozzi.

Mirza, who ran twice for the county legislature, now actively supports Adam Haber against Suozzi for the Democratic nomination for county executive, saying he wants a change in party leadership. Christopoulos was unavailable.-- Celeste Hadrick
