A resident found unconscious inside a Massapequa group home that caught fire has died, Nassau police said Monday.

The victim was identified Monday as Salvatore Strano, 54.

Strano was among four people living in the Camp Road group home who were hospitalized after the fire early Sunday, according to police.

Flames were visible from the first floor of the two-story resident when firefighters arrived in response to a 6:15 a.m. call, according to the Massapequa Fire Department.

Police did not release a cause of death but fire department officials said Sunday that firefighters found a 54-year-old male unconscious in a second-floor bedroom.

The victim was in cardiac arrest and transported to Good Samaritan Hospital in West Islip, officials said. Two 74-year-old males and a 60-year-old male were also taken to hospitals for treatment of minor burns.

Hospital staff pronounced Strano dead, police said Monday.

The fire was under control within an hour and the Amityville, South Farmingdale and Wantagh fire departments assisted Massapequa firefighters at the scene. The Nassau County Fire Marshal and Arson Bomb Squad detectives were on the scene.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
