Elmont man threatens acquaintance with stolen gun, say cops
An Elmont man faces several charges after he threatened an acquaintance with a gun Thursday night and officers found a stolen gun in his home, Nassau police said.
The trouble started when Michael A. Cano, 23, pointed a silver handgun at a man about 11:30 a.m. on the street in Elmont, police said. Officers spotted him in his car just after 10:30 p.m. Thursday at Butler Boulevard and Dover Street in Elmont and he was arrested, police said.
Then at 6:15 a.m. Friday, officers with a search warrant went into Cano's home at 65 Butler Blvd. and found an unloaded Smith and Wesson .9mm handgun stolen from New York City, a Ruger rifle, three bags of a substance believed to be marijuana and cash, police said.
Cano has been charged with criminal possession of a weapon, criminal possession of stolen property, criminal sale of marijuana, menacing and criminal possession of marijuana. He is expected to be arraigned Saturday in First District Court in Hempstead.
