Driver charged with DWI after New Cassel crash, Nassau police say
Nassau County police arrested a Hempstead man and charged him with driving while intoxicated after his vehicle was one of four involved in a crash Saturday night in New Cassel, officials said.
Police officers responded to a call after the crash at about 8:50 p.m. at Union Avenue and Linden Street and found Ronald Tarry , 71, injured and trapped in the overturned 2013 Nissan, authorities said.
Officers cut Tarry from the vehicle, smelled alcohol on his breath and saw that his eyes were bloodshot and took him into custody, according to a news release.
A police spokeswoman said Sunday the cause of the accident was under investigation and information about Tarry’s injuries was not available.
A driver in a second vehicle involved in the crash was treated at a hospital for neck and back pain, police said.
The two other vehicles involved in the crash were parked, police said.
