Pair arrested in use of stolen credit card
A Seaford restaurant hostess and her boyfriend were arrested this weekend after Nassau County police reported they used a credit card stolen from a patron of the restaurant.
Police said Christina Heanue, 33, of 26 Margaret Rd. in North Massapequa, stole the credit card information of a 32-year-old female patron in June while working at Butera's of Seaford on Sunrise Highway.
Heanue then shared the information with her boyfriend, Philip Ferrito, 32, of the same address, and the two used the card to make 26 fast-food orders at several restaurants totaling $1,060.88 between June 26 and Sept. 14, police said.
Heanue was caught on Saturday when the owner of Papalardo Pizza Cove in Seaford called 911 while Heanue was in the restaurant picking up a food order that she had called in, police said. The victim had called the owner previously, saying that someone might be coming into the restaurant and using her credit card, prompting the owner to alert authorities, police said.
Police, who met Heanue as she left the restaurant, said that she gave consent for officers to take her driver's license out of her 2001 Toyota. Police retrieved the license as well as 13 oxycodone pills before arresting Heanue.
At 1:40 a.m. Sunday, police arrested Ferrito at the Second Squad headquarters after an interview.
Heanue and Ferrito were each charged with second-degree identity theft and fourth-degree grand larceny. Heanue was also charged with aggravated unlicensed operation of a vehicle for failing to pay a previous summons and two counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance.
Both are to be arraigned on Monday at First District Court in Hempstead.
