The victim of an early Sunday morning hit-and-run crash in South Farmingdale has been identified as Mohamed Elromi, 24, of Astoria, Queens, police said.

Nassau County police said Tuesday Eighth Precinct officers responding to a 911 call for a pedestrian struck on Merrits Road found Elromi laying in the road around 3:40 a.m. Police said Elromi suffered “severe head trauma” — and was taken by police ambulance to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead by a physician “shortly after arrival.”

Police said investigators believed the vehicle that struck and killed Elromi to be a short bed silver or gray pickup truck.

Detectives are asking anyone with information about this fatality to call 911 or Crime Stoppers at 800-244-TIPS.
