Police: Driver dies in Oyster Bay Cove crash
A serious vehicle crash in Oyster Bay Cove Monday morning left one man dead and closed down Route 25A, North Hempstead Turnpike, for much of the day, police said.
Nassau County police said the crash occurred at about 8:30 a.m. when a 39-year-old man driving a 2009 Toyota east on Route 25A hit a tree.
The driver, who was not identified, was pronounced dead at the scene, Nassau police said. Oyster Bay Cove officers, assisted by Nassau Second Precinct officers, responded to the scene.
Nassau police said there was no apparent criminality, and the investigation was ongoing.
The road, which most know as Northern Boulevard, was closed in both directions between Yellow Cote Road and Cove Road for investigation, police said.
Oyster Bay Cove police said it was reopened at about 1 p.m. Monday.
