A Bethpage man was arrested Friday night after he was found in possession of a loaded handgun while at a bar in Levittown, Nassau County police said.
Officers from Nassau's Second Precinct said they responded to a call shortly after 11:30 p.m. at the Finish Line Bar on Wantagh Avenue for a report of a suspicious male with a gun sitting at the bar.
Officers found Thomas Bertschi, 44, of 14B Albergo Court, sitting at the bar. When Bertschi stood up, a loaded handgun fell from his coat pocket onto the floor, police said. Bertschi was placed under arrest and officers recovered the weapon.
Bertschi is charged with second-degree criminal possession of a weapon. He will be arraigned Saturday at First District Court in Hempstead.
