One man was killed and another injured when they were struck by a car while crossing a Hempstead street just after 1 a.m. Saturday.

Nassau County homicide detectives said an orange 2013 Dodge Challenger traveling north on Clinton Street hit the pedestrians near Dartmouth Street.

The men were crossing the street from west to east.

Their identities have not been released, pending notification of the deceased man's family, police said.

The injured victim was taken to a hospital for treatment. The vehicle was impounded at the scene, police said.

No other information was immediately available, but police said the investigation is ongoing.
