Nassau County police are trying to find who set fire Sunday to a Levittown church building under construction, causing about $70,000 in damage.

The Arson/Bomb Squad said that the fire was set about 4 a.m. after someone entered the fenced property at St. Thomas Malankara Orthodox Catholic Church at 100 School House Dr.

The building at the time of the fire consisted only of a shell and concrete work, according to police.

Police said someone set fire to cardboard boxes and wood crates holding elevator materials in four locations in the structure.

Anyone with information can call Crime Stoppers at 800-244-8477. All calls will be kept confidential.
