Police seek men in Westbury robbery attempt
Third Squad detectives are looking for four men, one of whom used a chain to assault two other men in a robbery attempt Monday in Westbury, Nassau County police said.
Police said the two victims were walking on Post Avenue near Prospect Avenue about 5 a.m. when they were approached by the four suspects.
One of the four men demanded money from the victims, police said. When they said they did not have any money, one of their assailants pulled out a chain and another a knife.
The victims were struck in the head, neck and chest with the chain before running off, police said. They took themselves to a nearby hospital, where they were treated for non-life-threatening injuries, police said.
The suspects did not get any proceeds, police said.
Anyone with information about the robbery attempt is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 800-244-8477. All calls will be kept confidential.
