Nassau County police said calls reporting shots fired at the Roosevelt Field mall Saturday night were unfounded.
Police responded to the Garden City mall and found no evidence of a shooting.
A Nassau County police spokesman told The Associated Press that officers responded to a report of a fight at the shopping mall. No one was arrested or injured, police said.
A spokesman for Simon Property Group, the mall’s owner and operator, said there was a fight between two individuals in the food court.
The initial call came into police around 7:45 p.m.
Social media posts reported shots fired, and a video showed people running. Another video on social media showed overturned chairs in the food court.
The scare came several days after retired NYPD Det. Sgt. Kenneth Krug wrested a gun from accused robber Oliver Lee, 21, of Little Neck Queens. Lee shot a mall worker during a botched heist at a luxury watch store on Wednesday, police said.
Danielle Shearer, 19, of Northport, said she didn’t see a fight, though she saw people screaming and running past the Finish Line in waves as she shopped at the sports apparel store.
“I was scared because they just had the shooting last week,” she said in a phone interview.
Shearer said store personnel quickly shut the store’s gates. The situation calmed shortly after, though people were still walking briskly out of the mall, she said.
Shearer said she went upstairs to the food court and filmed the video showing overturned chairs.
Justin Hurd, 22, of Elmont, said he saw someone pointing and a “big wave” of people running in his direction as he and a friend stood near Red Mango.
“I did hear a couple of pops. It could’ve been someone dropping trays, who knows,” said Hurd, who said he too didn’t witness a fight. “I don’t know if it was gunshots.”
