The New York State Police warn if you abandon your car on a state road in Nassau or Suffolk it will be towed. At your expense.

Police announced the measure Wednesday, saying the Parkway Snow Emergency Parking Ban had been put into effect beginning at 3 p.m.

The ban, in effect until further notice, means that any vehicle found abandoned on any state road - including road shoulders and entrance and exit ramps - will be "immediately towed at the owner's expense." Police said vehicles must be towed so plows can clear snow unimpeded.

If your vehicle is towed in Nassau or Suffolk you can contact police at 631-756-3300 in order to obtain tow company contact information.
