Surveillance photo leads to gym-theft arrest
Surveillance pictures from a fitness club camera led to the arrest of a Westbury man on grand larceny and other charges Thursday, Suffolk County police said.
Patrick Minervini, 22, of 32 Harwick Rd., was arrested on charges of fourth-degree grand larceny, fourth-degree criminal possession of stolen property and third-degree identity theft.
Police said Minervini entered Club Fit 24/7 on Jericho Turnpike in Jericho at about 7:45 p.m. Wednesday and removed a wallet from an unlocked locker. Minervini then used a credit card in that wallet at a Mobil gas station on North Broadway in Hicksville, police said.
Detectives checked surveillance footage from the gym and the gas station and connected the crime to Minervini, who police said was then arrested.
Minervini is scheduled for arraignment Friday in First District Court in Hempstead.
