A man was walking on a street in Roosevelt on Sunday night when, police said, two men approached him, assaulted him and robbed him at gunpoint before running off.

Nassau County police are searching for the robbers.

The robbery occurred at 9:30 p.m. on Harts Avenue.

Police said the victim, a 53-year-old man, was walking on Harts when two masked men approached him and one punched him in the eye, knocking him to the ground. Both of the assailants then "repeatedly kicked the victim," before pulling out black, semiautomatic handguns and demanding money, police said.

One of the attackers rifled the victim's pockets, stealing cash, police said. Then the two assailants fled on foot.

Police ask anyone with information about the robbery to call Crime Stoppers at 800-244-TIPS. All calls will remain confidential.
