Teen robbed of cellphone at gunpoint on Uniondale street
A 16-year-old walking along a street in Uniondale late Monday was robbed by two suspects in a brown sport utility vehicle, one of whom flashed a handgun before hitting the victim in the head and stealing his cellphone, police said.
Nassau County police said the armed robbery took place on Hempstead Boulevard near Greengrove Avenue at about 10:50 p.m. The victim was not hurt in the despite being struck, police said.
Police said the 16-year-old was walking along the residential street when the SUV approached and one suspect, wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt and jeans, exited the vehicle, flashed a handgun -- and demanded his phone and cash. Police said the victim refused.
The suspect then struck the teen in the head, took his cellphone and fled the scene.
