Way to Go: Jennifer Krzyminski, Seaford
For Jennifer Krzyminski, good deeds come first; sleep comes second.
The 18-year-old Seaford High School senior has done everything during her high school tenure from volunteering at a local soup kitchen to picking up litter at Tackapausha Museum and Preserve in Seaford. She was also ranked ninth in Seaford's Class of 2012 and worked as an SAT peer tutor twice a week.
However, Krzyminski said she considers her most meaningful achievement to be the distinction of being a member of National Honor Society: "To me, that's represents the whole package -- grades, community service etc.," she said.
Of her many involvements, she said: "It's pretty hectic, and sometimes sleep is the first thing to get cut out. But taking advantage of those opportunities sets you up for life."
She also has served as co-captain of her school's varsity field hockey team, vice president of the computer club and president of Green Team, an environmental awareness group. The Green Team spearheaded the annual cleanup at Tackapausha in conjunction with the school's Key Club, she said.
She plans to study ophthalmology this fall at Macauley Honors College at the City University of New York, which awarded her a full scholarship.
