Two Democrats involved in Nassau courts named to Court of Claims
Two Democratic attorneys involved in the Nassau court system were sworn in as state Court of Claims judges last week.
Former Nassau County Court Judge Steven M. Jaeger and trial lawyer Carmen St. George, who ran unsuccessfully for District Court judge in Hempstead in 2011, were nominated by Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo and confirmed by the state Senate last Monday.
Jaeger, of Roslyn Heights, had been a Nassau District Court judge and served as an Acting State Supreme Court justice before losing his bid for re-election to County Court in 2014. He most recently served as law clerk for State Supreme Court Justice Sharon Gianelli.
St. George, of Dix Hills, is the wife of Nassau Democratic County Court Judge Norman St. George, who serves as an acting Supreme Court justice. A former Queens County assistant district attorney, Carmen St. George worked as a trial attorney with the Manhattan law firm of Levy Phillips & Konigsberg from 2003 to 2014. Most recently she worked at Weitz & Luxenberg concentrating on mesothelioma, lung cancer and other asbestos related cases.
