One of two motorcyclists involved in a collision with two vehicles on the Southern State Parkway in the Town of Oyster Bay late Thursday afternoon has died and the other was injured, the State Police said in a statement.

The motorcyclist who was killed has been identified as David Torres, 45, of Hempstead. Police said Torres was driving a 2003 Kawasaki motorcycle when he struck the rear of a 2019 Jeep and was ejected from the motorcycle.

Torres was taken to St. Joseph Hospital in Bethpage, where he died from his injuries, police said.

The collisions occurred at approximately 5:15 p.m. when all four vehicles were headed west on the parkway near Exit 31. The other two drivers were not injured, the statement said.

The westbound lanes were temporarily closed.

Any witnesses or anyone who can help detectives should call 631-756-3300.
