Suffolk County police arrested four people Friday they said were responsible for a string of burglaries in Centereach, Selden and Coram. Police allege that the four targeted residences during the past month, taking small items like jewelry and laptops.

Police said the tipoff was the car -- a red Hyundai -- that had been seen at several of the burglaries. On Friday, police responded to a house alarm in Selden at 1:40 p.m. and observed a car that matched a description of a car seen at a burglary the day before. Officers arrested the four people in the vehicle and tied them to other burglaries through the car, stolen items police found with the suspects and incriminating statements they made in custody, police said.

Police charged Brian Leavey, 19, of Selden with 11 counts of burglary, one count of attempted burglary and one count of possession of burglar's tools. They also charged his wife, Olivia Case-Leavey, 19, with seven counts of burglary. Along with them, two Centereach residents, Michael Nuzzo, 22, and Cassandra Feldman, 24, were charged with six and three counts of burglary, respectively.

The investigation is ongoing to determine whether the group was involved in other burglaries, police said.
