A truck towing a tanker was involved in a collision with a car on northbound Indian Head Road in Commack Wednesday morning, spilling what police believed to be an asphalt compound.

One person had minor injuries, Suffolk County police said. The spill forced the closing of all northbound lanes, all but one southbound lane and a ramp to the Sunken Meadow Parkway, police said.

The crash occurred at 6:51 a.m. The ramp was reopened at 11:12 a.m., according to the state Department of Transportation, but Indian Head Road was still closed at 11:30.

Police said a Department of Environmental Conservation response team investigated. Crews used sand to clean the spill from the road.

The car involved in the collision was a Toyota Camry. It was not clear whether it hit the truck or the tanker. One person was taken to St. Catherine of Siena Medical Center in Smithtown with minor injuries.
