Police say one man is responsible for at least six bank heists in Suffolk County over the past two weeks, including the Thursday robbery of a Citibank branch in North Lindenhurst.

The robber left the branch at 120 Sunrise Hwy. on foot and was last seen on Fulton Street shortly after 3 p.m. Police said he wore a red shirt and gray sweatpants.

He is described as between 30 and 35 years old, about 5-foot-10, with a shaved head, thin beard and medium build. Police say it's unclear whether he had carried a weapon during the robberies.

Detectives believe he has robbed at least five other banks since May 24. Those branches include: Capital One Bank in Deer Park on May 24; Bank of America in Commack on May 27; Bethpage Federal Credit Union in East Farmingdale on May 29; Capital One Bank in East Farmingdale on Monday; and TD Bank in Sayville on Tuesday.

Investigators declined to disclose the amount of money stolen during the holdups.

Suffolk police detectives, working with the FBI, are investigating all six robberies and checking whether the same man may have carried out additional heists.

Police are advising local banks and financial institutions to be aware of the pattern and to report any suspicious activity.

Det. Lt. Edward Reilly, commanding officer of Suffolk's Special Investigations Section, said that in each of the six holdups the robber approached a teller and passed a note demanding cash.

"If anyone does see him, please don't approach, but call 911," Reilly said. "Hopefully, somebody knows who this person is."

Anyone with information about the robberies or the suspect is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 800-220-TIPS. All calls will remain confidential.
