Suffolk cop, driver suffer minor injuries after Bellport crash, cops say
A police cruiser and another vehicle crashed in Bellport Monday, sending both drivers to the hospital, Suffolk police said.
The 12:20 p.m. crash occurred as an Infiniti was going south on North Howells Road and a Fifth Precinct patrol car was going east on South Country Road, police said.
A photo from the scene shows the police car had jumped the curb and mowed down bushes.
The Infiniti driver, a 31-year-old Bellport man, had minor injuries and was taken to Brookhaven Memorial Hospital Medical Center in East Patchogue, police said, and the officer, who also had minor injuries, was taken to Stony Brook University Hospital.
Other details, including what caused the collision, were not released, but police said the investigation was continuing.
