Bellport to seek state funds for improvements to its community center
The Village of Bellport is expected to vote on a resolution Monday night that would ask New York State for thousands of dollars to fund improvements to its community center.
Village officials plan to send the state a grant application for $50,000 later this week for a new roof and boiler at the Bellport Community Center if the resolution is adopted.
"The money is there, we just have to finish the paperwork," Mayor Ray Fell said Monday.
Holiday parties and Friday activities are held at the center, located on Bell Street, in addition to conducting trustee meetings.
The roof and boiler have been in use for more than 30 years, village officials said.
