A 14-year-old boy suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries after police said he crashed his dirt bike into a car at an intersection Monday in Selden.

Suffolk County police said the boy was riding a 2006 Honda dirt bike south on Ruland Road when he crashed it into an eastbound 2010 Ford Fusion on Henry Avenue at 4:30 p.m.

The boy, whose identity was not released, was transported to Stony Brook University Hospital with undisclosed injuries.

The driver of the car was not hospitalized.

It is illegal to ride an unregistered off-road vehicle on a public street. A 14-year-old cannot be licensed.

Police said no charges have been filed, but said that the investigation is continuing.
