A Copiague man was arrested in Florida Tuesday in connection with a 2012 homicide in which the victim was gunned down outside a Wyandanch home when he went to make a phone call, authorities said.
Boyd Holland, 22, was arrested in Orlando with assistance from the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force and brought back to New York Tuesday, Suffolk police said.
He is expected to be charged with second-degree murder and will be arraigned in First District Court in Central Islip Wednesday, police said.
Holland is accused of killing Eric Brooks, 35, who had been living with his girlfriend on N. 22nd Street in Wyandanch on May 9, 2012, police said. He was shot several times after he stepped out of the home to make a phone call, according to Brooks' family at the time.
Brooks' family said he had been released from prison on Dec. 23, 2011, after serving a 7-year term on drug charges, and had been trying to build a relationship with his daughter and grandson.
