A Copiague man stopped by police for failing to signal was found to have 69 suspensions and revocations on his license.
According to Suffolk County police, Third Precinct Officer Sal Gigante, who works with the Community Oriented Police Enforcement bureau, was on patrol in Brentwood Thursday afternoon when he noticed a 1990 Mercedes-Benz fail to signal at the intersection of Fifth Avenue and Pine Aire Drive. When Gigante pulled the car over, driver Jaquan Joas gave the officer a fake name and then ran off. He was soon caught and arrested, and then police discovered Joas had 69 suspensions or revocations on his license.
Joas, of 660 Dixon Ave., Copiague, was charged with first-degree aggravated unlicensed operation, resisting arrest, false impersonation and fifth-degree criminal possession of marijuana. Joas is scheduled to be arraigned in First District Court in Central Islip on Saturday.
